Alicia Sutton

About the artist: Alicia Sutton, a native Arizonan, has been involved with theater in the Phoenix area for over 15 years as an actor, director, educator and arts administrator. While a student at Arizona State University, Alicia co-founded the ASU Student Production Series and served as the organization’s first managing director. Each year, Student Production produces a full season of student-driven work in an environment that fosters creativity, risk-taking and growth in every aspect of administration and production.

Alicia graduated summa cum laude with degrees in Theatre and Business. She has received numerous awards including a Special Achievement Award for her work with the ASU Student Production Series, The David and Patricia Kader Award for Artistic Excellence and an AriZoni Award for Performance. Post graduation, Alicia worked in the Arts Education department of the Arizona Commission on the Arts. In 2002, Alicia left the Commission to serve as the Managing Director of Theater Works. It was then she was asked to join the Board of Directors for the Arts & Business Council of Greater Phoenix. In 2004, Alicia assumed the role of Development Associate with the nationally renowned theatre company Childsplay.

Alicia is a steadfast supporter of fledgling Phoenix arts organizations and is currently helping several young theatre companies develop the infrastructure and sound business practices to allow them to prosper.
