Southwest Shakespeare Company is devoted to producing high quality, classical theatrical works and making them accessible to audiences of all ages, backgrounds and income levels. Their goal is to increase appreciation for language and great literature through live, dynamic performances. SSC seeks to be "user friendly" by involving the audience in all aspects of a production. SSC has been a very positive addition to the regional artistic community. Their Artistic Director, Mr. Jared Sakren is a nationally respected actor, director and teacher.

    Yazmina Reza Comedy: Art Mesa Arts Center Theaters Yazmina Reza Comedy: Art Presented by Southwest Shakespeare Company at Mesa Arts Center Theaters March 1-March 17, 2012 Winner of both the Tony and Olivier Awards for Best Play, this play by Yasmina Reza, in an English translation by Christopher Hampton, is a non-stop, dazzling, fireworks display of language, and is an actor's dream for its 3 man cast. Art focuses on the devastating effect on three friends when one of them purchases an expensive work of abstract art - a large painting consisting of white lines on a white canvas.

    Much Ado About Nothing Mesa Arts Center Theaters Much Ado About Nothing Presented by Southwest Shakespeare Company at Mesa Arts Center Theaters April 19-May 5, 2012 One of the cleverest comedies The Bard ever penned, Much Ado features one of the most engaging and unlikely romantic couples in all of Shakespeare, Beatrice and Benedick. In all its intrigues, battles of wits, romance, buffoonery, and dramatic thrills, Much Ado asks people to look beneath the surface of love to its true nature, past human frailty to humility and forgiveness.
