Cave Creek Museum
The Cave Creek Museum sits near an old military road at the base of Black Mountain. Its roots are embedded in the pioneer traditions of neighbor helping neighbor. In 1968, a small group of volunteers formed a historical society that found definition as the Cave Creek Museum. Cave Creek's first church building was given to the organization to house the museum. The small structure was moved to the corner of Basin and Skyline Drive and set of land donated by Frank and Hazel Wright. Donations and gifts of historical significance poured in.
The Museum's presence in the community expanded in February 1987 when its current building was completed. An extensive collection of prehistoric and historic artifacts describe the lives of Indians, miners, ranchers and pioneers. The Museum Shop offers visitors gifts, Indian arts, and an extensive selection of books on the Southwest.
Importanat information: Closed from May 29th through September 30. The museum reopens on October 1, 2011.
