Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, the first collaboration between Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, tells the story Jacob's favorite son, Joseph, who loves his fabulous rainbow-colored coat, a gift from his adoring father. Joseph's brothers are jealous of his father's affections and resent Joseph's ability to interpret dreams. They plan to abduct him, destroy his cherished coat, and toss him into a pit to perish. But they have a change of heart and sell him into slavery, instead. They convince their father that Joseph met an untimely end and feign great sorrow at the unfortunate death of their poor brother.
