THEATRE

Juliette Must Die
June 11, 2011
Fatimah Halim, renowned artist, storyteller and community activist will premiere her new one-woman show, Juliette Must Die to the Phoenix Audience. This will be the first performance of the show anywhere and after Phoenix, the show will have planned tour stops in Atlanta, New York and Paris!
Written and performed by Fatimah Halim, Juliette Must Die is a story of a woman in conflict with herself. Fatimah sees women as complex and fascinating beings; juggling personal beliefs of what is expected of them with who they truly want to be in the world. This juggling sometimes pushes them over the edge, forcing them to create personas that help them cope with what life throws their way. This conflict is at the crux of this one woman show about a woman who lives in her own archetypal world.
Fatimah has a long and illustrious career in the realm of storytelling. She has been a storyteller for over 20 years, including working as a roster artist for many years with the Arizona Commission on the Arts. Additionally, as a writer and storyteller, Fatimah traveled to Africa, Europe, the Caribbean, Brazil, Bahamas and throughout the American South studying her art and performing her stories. Locally, Fatimah has performed at the Phoenix Art Museum, the Herberger Theater, and Phoenix Symphony Hall. She has also toured, as a storyteller, with the late Rosa Parks (Mother of the modern day Civil Rights Movement).
