Dr. Padma Aking in Mind Matters
May 14, 2011
Dazzle, spirit, grace and dance combine to create a delightful evening that both entertains and educates about mental health issues in Arizona today. Mind Matters - Reducing Stigma, Restoring Hope is a unique mental health awareness event featuring 15th century classical Indian dance, beautiful costumes, traditional music and the regional cuisine of India.
Dr. Padma Aking, is a practicing psychiatrist and disciple of internationally renowned Kuchipudi guru Padmasri Smt. Sobha Naidu. Kuchipudi is the most visually attractive of India's six classical dance styles, combining fast rhythm and fluid movements to create a blend of control and abandon, strength and delicacy. Mind Matters blends this expressive dance style with beautiful costumes, intricate jewelry and traditional Indian instrumental music, mridangam and veena, to create a complete Indian cultural experience.
