Some microbes evolve to cause disease and our immune system has evolved to protect us against them. However, microbes evolve much faster than us. Therefore, since we can't win the fight against microbes on the battleground of evolution, we will need to win by our wits. Dr. Kathryn Sykes will describe scientific approaches taken in the past and those ongoing today to outsmart microbes. Hear the latest ideas and trends in biomedicine directed at preventing disease and learn what impact these innovative approaches have had and will have on both microbes and humans.
