Rick Shuler - The Music of John Denver
March 23, 2011
Looking like an entertainment icon is one thing. Sounding like him, too, is ? well, comparable to a Rocky Mountain High for the incomparable singer-songwriter Rick Schuler, a virtual John Denver human clone.
Louisiana-born and Missouri-raised, Rick was a mere 13 when comparisons to the then wildly popular Denver began. When researching his "superstar" body double, Rick discovered he could sing like him, too and soon began to teach him self how to play guitar. The first look-sound-play-alike piece of many that Rick eventually mastered was Denver's melodic and widely revered "Sunshine on My Shoulders." His first public performance at age 16 was in a Six Flags "Talent" show featuring the amusement park's employees. Though a mere chicken cook at the time, Rick's rendition of Rocky Mountain High garnered a standing ovation from the crowd of thousands.
