The music is timeless....the lyrics are dreamy....and the first time you heard it, your heart skipped, hopped and did a little flip flop. The Platters were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990 and into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in its inaugural year of 1998. One of the premiere groups of that era, The Platters were the first rock and roll group to have a Top Ten album in America. They were also the only act to have three songs included on the American Graffiti soundtrack that sparked an oldies revival in the early to mid-1970s: "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes", "The Great Pretender" and "Only You (and You Alone)."

While there may be some out around the world who claim to recite the lyrics to the classic Platter's songs, there were only 3 lead singers in the History ever hired by Buck Ram. Monroe Powell was hired by the Legendary Buck Ram (the man and legend behind ALL the Platters classic hits) in 1970 the third lead singer after Tony Williams and Sonny Turner and remained the lead singer through the millennium. No other singer holds the honor of being the lead singer of "The Platters" longer than Monroe Powell. Monroe still maintains the integrity and memorable performances of "The Platters". On stage Monroe's voice is characterized by swelling crescendos, whispers and sensual pauses, in a style that is magnificent and unique. His group consists of Don Gloude', Kenni Jaye, Ines Zak, and Musical Director Bill McClure.
