Genomics of Mental Health and Disease: Leveraging the Human Genome to Develop Better Diagnostics and Targeted Therapies
January 12, 2011
The use of personalized genetic information during the management of our medical care is poised to increase dramatically during the coming decade. This is in large part due to the fact that biomedical researchers have been performing their research in the context of an excellent draft of the human genome sequence for the last ten years. Dr. Huentelman will discuss the technologies, approaches, and a few of the end results of this leveraging of the human genome by biomedical science and medicine. A special focus of this presentation will be on Arizona-based success stories as well as those pertaining particularly to the areas of healthy brain function and diseases of the central nervous system.
