KIDS & FAMILIES
Adults' Night Out - Evolutionary Versus Racial Medicine: Why It Matters
November 5, 2010
Evolutionary medicine rests on the premise that contemporary social, psychological and physical illnesses result from the incompatibility between modern lifestyles and environments compared to the conditions under which modern humans evolved. Racial medicine proposes that humans can be effectively classified as "races" and that the health disparities observed in modern industrial societies between racial entities is primarily the result of genetic differences between these groups. This talk identifies the primary fallacies entailed in the racial medicine paradigm and outlines how these may be eradicated by the proper application of evolutionary medicine principles.
