Fountain Hills Community Theater is proud to announce the opening of the spine-chilling play The Haunting of Hill House. It is a study in mounting terror in which a small group of "psychically receptive" people are brought together in Hill House, a brooding Victorian mansion known as a place of evil and "contained ill will." Led by the learned Dr. Montague, who is conducting research in paranormal phenomena, the visitors have come to probe the secrets of the old house and to draw forth the mysterious powers that it is alleged to possess?powers which have brought madness and death to those who have lived therein in the past.

The Haunting of Hill House is based on a 1959 novel by author, Shirley Jackson. Considered one of the best literary ghost stories published during the twentieth century, it has been made into two feature films and a play. Jackson's novel relies on terror rather than horror to elicit emotion in the reader, utilizing complex relationships between the mysterious events in the house and the characters' psyches. Stephen King lists The Haunting of Hill House as one of the finest horror novels ever written.

This brand new production will incorporate chilling technical effects and will bear a deliberate resemblance to the ghost-hunting reality shows that are so popular today. Director Ross Collins and special effects technical advisor, Todd Carrie, guarantee that audiences are in for a real fright!
