THEATRE

The Diviners
April 9-April 17, 2010
SCC Theatre Arts opens its Spring season with a moving story about faith and friendship. The Diviners, by Jim Leonard, Jr., tells the story of a small farming community in a fictional Indiana town during the Great Depression - a time when water and faith were in short supply. A charismatic but back-sliding preacher, CC Showers, drifts into town and meets Buddy, a gentle but emotionally disturbed boy who is phobic of water yet happens to have the gift of divining water. The two outcasts find a common bond and help each other divine for truth, faith and hope. The townspeople demand that the preacher return to a way of life he no longer believes in and it drives both CC and Buddy to a crisis of trust.
