After you've headed up the creative side of one of Arizona's largest ad agencies, what do you do next? For David Robb, former executive Creative Director at Riester Advertising, you head to Mexico with your wife, restore a 150 year-old crumbling villa, and return to a long-lost passion - painting. The result of that effort is a beautiful colonial home on the seaside in Mazatlan and Crossing Borders, Robb's first solo show of his paintings. The influence of Robb's advertising past and current Mexico residency are evident in his works. Almost every canvas looks utterly simple - he result of years' of honing messages and headlines to their most efficient. And whether the subject is a bull or a pigeon, dangling stone or gnarled tree root, each image is meticulously balanced, and painstakingly designed.
