The Stars of the Pharaohs
June 1, 2009-August 31, 2010
Travel to ancient Egypt and discover how the Egyptians used the night sky to tell time, create a calendar, and even align the pyramids. Identify the many Egyptian contributions to the modern science of astronomy. Hear stories of past Pharaohs and how their relationship to the sky influenced their reign, and how even in their final resting place the stars were key to immortality. During this 40-minute film you'll learn about the connection between this ancient culture, the stars and other astronomical phenomena, as well as seeing some of the most spectacular temples and tombs of the ancient world that have been recreated in their original splendor.
